An essential component of Buffalo State’s emergency response is the reunification of students with their families as soon as possible following an emergency incident involving students either on or off campus (i.e. sports team/student transportation accident). It is crucial to reunite students with family as quickly as possible to help reduce traumatic stress.
Marketing and Communications will inform students and families as to the location of the on-campus Reunification Center. The location will be determined by the number of students, faculty and staff effected by the emergency, which will be discussed by VPFM, UPD, and the Emergency Manager. The Reunification Center will be established at Houston Gym or the Alumni and Visitors Center, when need and will be staffed by members of the Human Resources Department, Student Affairs and the Child Care Center.
Each student, employee, staff and child will be accounted for upon arriving at the Reunification Center and upon departing.
Mental health counselors will be made available to anyone who is in need of counseling.
